Second trial session of "Tomaj Salehi" held behind closed doors

The second trial session of "Tomaj Salehi" was held in private and behind closed doors.

More than eight months have passed since the arrest of rapper and civil activist Tomaj Salehi, and he remains in temporary detention. Tomaj has been deprived of a fair trial throughout his detention. The first session of Tomaj Salehi's trial was held in camera on June 18, 1402 AH, after which members of the Italian, German, and New Zealand parliaments, who had taken over Tomaj's political sponsorship, released separate videos and announced that the first session of his trial was held without official notification after 230 days of his detention.

One of Tomaj's friends, who kept Tomaj's Twitter account active after his arrest, wrote: "The second trial session of Tomaj Salehi was held on Sunday morning, July 21, behind closed doors and in complete silence."

Also, after holding this closed and secret meeting, German MP Yehwan Rei wrote in a tweet: "What is the Iranian regime so afraid of?" He warned about the possibility of a quick announcement of Tomaje's sentence and called for widespread information and support for the rapper.

Amir Raisian, the lawyer representing Tomaj, also announced that his case includes five charges, including "corruption," "supervising propaganda against the regime," "collaborating with a hostile government," "calling people to murder and riot," and "insulting the leader of the regime." He also announced that months after Tomaj's arrest, due to the prohibition in Article 48 of the Criminal Procedure Code, the Isfahan Prosecutor's Office had not allowed lawyers other than those approved by the judiciary to appear in the case, and my colleague and I were not accepted as lawyers; however, when Tomaj's case was sent to the court with the issuance of a guilty verdict and indictment by the Isfahan Prosecutor's Office, this prohibition no longer had a legal aspect, and after repeated appeals, the court accepted our representation in the case.

It should be noted that in previous years, before the nationwide protests began, Tomaj Salehi tried to help globalize the widespread protests of the Iranian people against the Islamic Republic by releasing critical songs. He also reacted to the repression of the people during the nationwide protests and protested against senior officials of the Islamic Republic by releasing several videos, which led to his arrest by security forces in the very first days of the nationwide protests.

Also, following the secret trial, Tomaje's political sponsors demanded complete transparency and direct access to his judicial file, stating that nothing legal was being done regarding Tomaje's case.
