Isfahan farmers' protest rally enters fourth day

The gathering of Isfahan farmers protesting the cutting of water fees and the drying up of the Zayandeh River entered its fourth day on Thursday, November 10.
In images posted on social media from Thursday's gatherings, protesters are seen chanting slogans and marching along the dry bed of the Zayandeh River.
This protest movement, which is related to the lack of allocation of water for the autumn wheat crop, began on Monday, November 7, with farmers gathering in front of the Regional Water Company and the Isfahan Provincial Broadcasting Center, and has continued on the Zayandeh Riverbed since that day.
A number of protesters had also set up tents on Tuesday night and stayed in the bed of the Zayandeh River.
The issue of how water is distributed in Isfahan has faced widespread protests from farmers in various regions in recent years.
The Zayandeh River, with a length of more than 400 kilometers, has become a seasonal river in recent decades due to lack of rainfall, successive droughts, population density, and excessive extraction upstream and use in factories in the middle of the river.
