Bahareh Soleimani's continued detention and uncertainty in the IRGC Intelligence Detention Center

Bahareh Soleimani, a resident of Tehran, is still being held incommunicado in the IRGC Intelligence Detention Center, known as Ward 2A of Evin Prison, 81 days after her arrest. Ms. Soleimani suffers from a lung disease and is in dire need of medication and medical care. Ms. Soleimani’s family has only had one private visit with their child since her arrest.

According to HRANA News Agency, the news agency of the Human Rights Activists in Iran, today, Monday, January 5, 2020, Bahareh Soleimani, a citizen living in Tehran, is still being held indefinitely in the IRGC Intelligence Detention Center known as Ward 2A of Evin Prison, 81 days after her arrest.

Ms. Soleimani has been denied access to a lawyer of her choice since her arrest. According to Touraj Soleimani, Ms. Soleimani's brother, in his last call to the family, informed them that her interrogations were continuing.

This citizen suffers from a lung disease and is in dire need of medication and medical care. His family is concerned about his case and health status.

Bahareh Soleimani was previously arrested on October 15th of this year by officers who identified themselves as security police and taken to an unknown location. During the arrest, security forces searched the home of the citizen’s parents and then went to Ms. Soleimani’s home in Tehran and searched it as well. During these searches, a number of personal belongings of Ms. Soleimani and her family, including a computer, cell phone, books, CDs, and floppy disks, were confiscated by the officers.

Previously, a source familiar with the detention of Bahareh Soleimani told HRANA: "Baharah Soleimani's father suffers from heart and lung disease (due to being chemically exposed in the army during the war), and during the two-hour search of his home, his physical condition worsened. After the personal property meeting, the officers told Bahara Soleimani's family to report to the Evin Prison Branch 2 Prosecutor's Office on Sunday morning, October 17. However, when the family went to them, they were told that they were not allowed to visit or call her until the situation was clarified, and that they were satisfied with the fact that your daughter was imprisoned in the security and solitary confinement ward. Bahara Soleimani worked in the medical department and over the past eight months, she suffered lung damage due to contact with coronavirus patients and needs medication."

Bahareh Soleimani is 43 years old and a citizen living in Tehran.

As of the time of writing this report, there is no information available about the reasons for the arrest and the charges brought against this citizen.
