Russian drone strike in Kiev kills father and daughter in church
Russia launched a drone attack on Kiev, destroying a church and killing a father and his young daughter.
The Emmanuel Church in Kiev announced on its Instagram page that two Russian drones had hit the church building on the outskirts of the capital. According to the report, the first drone exploded in mid-air, damaging the church's roof, walls, cars and the area around the church, while the second drone dropped a bomb near a temporary shelter where displaced families were living on the church grounds.
A church leader said of the drone attack: "In this explosion, a father and his young daughter died, and the mother of the family survived because the blast wave threw her several meters from the residence. She was found 50 meters from the scene of the incident and was taken to the hospital."
The family was from the Orykhiv region, displaced by war, who had fled their homes due to Russian attacks and were living in a temporary shelter provided by the church. The father of the family had been involved in humanitarian activities and church service since coming to Kiev.
The leader of this church, while expressing his sorrow and grief over the incident, said in a statement: "Our church has faced a terrible tragedy. According to the Psalms, God is close to the brokenhearted. He saves those who have lost hope. We know that God has not left us alone. He is still with us even in these dark moments. We believe that love is stronger than death and that our church will be reborn as a symbol of faith, hope and perseverance. Now is the time to glorify the name of the Lord Jesus Christ."
The church also published information on its official website, announcing that it would like to support people in this difficult situation.
It should be noted that the drones used in the attack on Ukraine are Iranian-made Shahed-136 suicide drones, which have been used by Russia to attack vital infrastructure and civilian areas in Ukraine. The drones in question do not have advanced technology and are only capable of causing damage, terror, and terror.
