Death sentences of 15 prisoners carried out in various prisons in Iran

HRANA News Agency – At dawn today, the death sentences of at least 15 prisoners who had previously been sentenced to death for drug-related and murder-related charges were carried out in prisons in Damghan, Chabahar, Mashhad, Bushehr, Shahrekord, Bukan, Behbahan, Bojnourd, Mahshahr, Sari, Ferdows, Kashmar, Esfarayen, Taybad, and Gonabad.

According to HRANA, the news agency of the Human Rights Activists' Association in Iran, at least 15 prisoners were executed in various prisons in the country.

The identities of these prisoners who were hanged at dawn today, Thursday, 16 Bahman 1404, have been confirmed by HRANA as Fariborz Mehri, Hojjat Mansouri, Eskandar Poshtkar, Moharram Abdi, Parham Ferdowsi, Kosha Moradi, Shervin Yari, Ayub Mashhadi, Hamed Niktaj, Muslim Almasi, Amir Hossein Norouzi, Morad Hassan (last name unknown), Hooman Momeni, Khanumrad Azizi, and Jafar Shahri.

According to information received by HRANA, Fariborz Mehri was executed in Damghan Prison, Hojjat Mansouri in Chabahar Prison, Eskandar Poshtkar in Mashhad Prison, Moharram Abdi in Bushehr Prison, Parham Ferdowsi in Shahrekord Prison, Kosha Moradi in Bukan Prison, Shervin Yari in Behbahan Prison, Ayub Mashhadi in Bojnourd Prison, Hamed Niktaj in Mahshahr Prison, and Muslim Almasi in Sari Prison. These prisoners were previously arrested on charges of murder and then sentenced to death by a criminal court.

Amir Hossein Norouzi in Ferdows Prison, Morad Hassan (surname unknown) in Kashmar Prison, Hooman Momeni in Esfarayen Prison, Khanumrad Azizi in Taybad Prison, and Jafar Shahri in Gonabad Prison have also been hanged on charges related to drug crimes.

As of the time of writing this report, the execution of these prisoners has not been officially announced by prison officials and the responsible institutions.

According to the annual report on the human rights situation in Iran, published by the Statistics, Publications and Works Unit of the Human Rights Activists Association in Iran, at least 2,063 people were executed in Iran in the one-year period from January 1, 2025 to January 1, 2026. Accordingly, the number of executions has increased by 119% compared to 2024. In many of these executions, due to secrecy, prisoners have even been deprived of the right to a final meeting with their families.
