Appeals Court: Two Christians sentenced to a total of 11 years in prison

In December of this year, Sara Ahmadi and Homayoun Javeh, two Christians, were sentenced to a total of 11 years in prison by the Tehran Provincial Court of Appeal. On the other hand, as additional punishment, these individuals were sentenced to a ban on leaving the country and membership in parties and social groups for two years and to provide free public services to the mentally disabled for six months, including four hours a day. They were sentenced to a total of 14 years in prison by the Tehran Revolutionary Court in the first instance in November of this year.
According to HRANA News Agency, citing Article 18, on December 8, 2019, the Tehran Provincial Court of Appeal sentenced Sara Ahmadi and her husband Homayoun Javeh, two Christians, to a total of 11 years in prison.
According to this verdict, Ms. Ahmadi was sentenced to 8 years in prison for the charge of disrupting national security by running illegal “Zionist Missionary Christianity” groups, pseudo-groups, and groups, and Mr. Xave was sentenced to 3 years in prison for the charge of acting against national security by being a member of “Zionist Missionary Christianity.” These Christians were also sentenced to a two-year ban on leaving the country and joining political parties and social groups, and to providing free public services to the mentally disabled for six months, including four hours a day.
On November 11, 2020, Sara Ahmadi and Homayoun Javeh were sentenced to 11 and 3 years of imprisonment, respectively, by the Tehran Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Iman Afshari.
It is said that the aforementioned court has sent the issued sentences to Branch 11 of the "Evin Martyrdom" Criminal Enforcement Division.
These two Christians were arrested on June 14, 2020 in Amol after security officers searched their rented and recreational home.
Ms. Ahmadi was eventually released from Evin Prison on bail of 300 million Tomans. Mr. Vaji was also released from Evin Prison on September 25, 2020, after posting bail of 200 million Tomans.
Sara Ahmadi, a Christian born in 1978, and her husband, Homayoun Javeh, born in 1958, who suffers from Parkinson's disease, live in Tehran.
