In Germany, asylum applications are being revoked for many people.

The German Federal Office for Migration and Refugees has terminated the asylum status of around 600 foreigners in the first four months of this year. A re-examination has shown that more than 98 percent of the people were rightfully granted asylum.

As the files of thousands of foreigners who have been granted asylum in Germany have been re-examined, around 600 of them have lost this privilege.

The granting of asylum by the German Migration and Asylum Service to a foreign asylum seeker is not definitive and eternal, but may be withdrawn if further evidence is found.

With the surveys conducted from January to the end of April this year, the refugee status of 32,667 people has been confirmed, in other words, 98 percent of people have been properly granted the right to asylum.

According to a report by the German government in response to a question from Green Party MP Luise Amtsberg, around 600 people have lost their asylum status. 489 of these people no longer meet the conditions at the time of their asylum application.

In addition, the refugee status of 114 people has been revoked because they provided false information during the verification process.

Among these refugees, the majority were those who falsely identified themselves as Iraqi or Syrian during the screening process.

The revocation of refugee status should not in principle affect the visa applications of refugee relatives, but the Green Party representative points to cases where visa applications of refugee relatives have been rejected before the final status of those individuals has been announced.
