Clash between unknown individuals and security forces; Head of Intelligence Police in West Islamabad killed

Following a clash between unknown individuals and security forces in the West Islamabad area, the head of the Intelligence Police of West Islamabad has been killed.

 

Mehr news agency reported on Monday, June 6, quoting the police commander of West Islamabad in Kermanshah Province about an “armed clash in the Jahad neighborhood of West Islamabad” and wrote that “as a result of this armed clash between unknown individuals” and security forces stationed around the Jahad neighborhood mosque in West Islamabad, the head of the Intelligence Police of this city has been killed.

MohammadReza Amoui, the social deputy of the police command of Kermanshah Province, also explained to ISNA news agency that on Sunday night, a team of intelligence police officers under the supervision of Kourosh Haji Moradi were on patrol for security purposes when they became suspicious of a vehicle. When they attempted to stop the vehicle, its occupants opened fire at the officers’ vehicle, resulting in Captain Haji Moradi being wounded. Following his transfer to medical centers, he lost his life.

It is still unclear who carried out this clash, but the chairman of the parliament’s national security and foreign policy commission stated that “the area where the armed clash in West Islamabad took place is under control.”

Falahate Pesha stated that security force officers engaged with the unknown individuals based on “suspicion of terrorist” activity.
