Christians' Prayer for Iran's Freedom: In the Ashes of Oppression, the Light of Hope Remains

Iran, a land with an ancient history and culture, has witnessed tragedies and crimes in recent decades that pain every human soul. Since the beginning of the Islamic Revolution in 1979, Christians in Iran have faced severe repression and restrictions; many followers of Christianity were buried alive and their human rights were ignored. This repression was not limited to Christians; major social and humanitarian disasters also form another part of Iran's contemporary history.
From the fire at Cinema Rex in Abadan that killed hundreds of people, to the collapse of the Plasco building that was a reminder of the sacrifice and loss of life of those who stood against neglect and injustice, and countless other tragedies that pain every human heart, and recounting them will bring nothing but pain, suffering, and sorrow because they are countless.
However, Iranian Christians do not expect full support from the West or the East, we rely only on God. In a situation where many European and global allies only seek their own interests, our faith is in the divine promises; we know that true justice is beyond the hands of humans and only a divine miracle can end oppression.
Iranian Christians, united in prayer and fasting, ask God to break the yoke of evil and allow the Iranian nation to experience true freedom, justice, and peace after decades of suffering and oppression. As stated in the Gospel of John, Chapter 10, Verse 10: “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I have come that they may have life and have it abundantly.”
These words of Jesus Christ indicate the height of his love and the centrality of life in his teachings; he places the light of hope in the heart of darkness and shows people the path to eternal life.
Throughout Iran's contemporary history, Christians have stood up to oppression with their faith and patience. They have sought justice and freedom not with weapons and force, but with the power of prayer and fasting. This spiritual unity has a clear message: Even in the heart of darkness and human anger, the light of God is never extinguished, and miracles can change the course of history.
Today, as Iranian Christians stand together and pray for their nation and their land, their message is clear: “We believe that divine justice and love are above any earthly power. We ask God to end oppression, free generations of Iranians, and build a society in which justice, peace, and freedom are the fundamental foundations of life.”
Iran, with all its pain and despair, remains a land of prayer and hope. Christians believe that even in the ashes of oppression, God’s light can shine, and a generation of Iranians, after decades of suffering and injustice, can experience a life of freedom and hope. This prayer and faith are signs of resistance and true life. As the psalmist says in Psalm 23:4, “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort my heart.” Yes! God’s light never goes out, even when everything seems dark.
Lazarus. Sure.
