New round of pressure on civil activists; three women's rights activists summoned to Evin Prosecutor's Office

Three women's rights activists, Maryam Mohammadi, Asrin Derkale, and Narges Khorami, were summoned to the Evin Prison courtroom on Tuesday.

According to the Human Rights in Iran website, on Sunday, June 16, security agents searched the home of Maryam Mohammadi, a member of the Iranian Women's Voice Association, confiscated two mobile phones, and summoned her to Evin Prosecutor's Office on Tuesday, June 18.

According to this report, security agents have delivered another summons issued to "Asrin Derkale", another women's rights activist, to Maryam Mohammadi due to her absence from home.

On Wednesday, June 12, security forces searched the home of Narges Khorami and confiscated a number of her personal belongings, including her cell phone and tablet, and summoned her to the Evin Prison courthouse on Tuesday, June 18.

This is not the first time that a member of the Voice of Iranian Women Association has been summoned or arrested. Previously, "Nahid Shaghaghi", a women's and children's rights activist who has given lectures on violence against women at the Voice of Iranian Women group's seminars in the past few years, was arrested on Wednesday, May 15, after security agents stormed her private home and broke down her door, and was transferred to Ward 209 of Evin Prison.

Akram Nasirian, another member of the Voice of Iranian Women, who was arrested on the street by security agents on Monday, May 29, and transferred to Evin Prison, was temporarily released from prison on June 25 after posting bail until the end of the trial.

In February last year, Amnesty International called 2018 the "year of shame" for the Islamic Republic in a report, announcing that 112 women's rights activists had been arrested in Iran this year.
