The Iranian government did not quarantine, but Nowruz travel increased

With the Iranian government refraining from imposing a Nowruz travel ban, reports indicate a significant increase in travel to different regions of the country during the Corona period; an issue that could mark the beginning of a new wave of Corona in Iran.
Iranian authorities have repeatedly advised people in recent days to stay home during the holidays and avoid Nowruz travel.
Meanwhile, on Monday, April 2, Tasnim News Agency reported, citing the Road Administration and Transport Organization, an increase of about 11 percent in vehicle traffic on the country's suburban roads over the past 24 hours.
From March 10 to Monday, the growth rate of intercity traffic was reported to be 47 percent.
Alireza Ghadami, head of Mazandaran's traffic police, announced on Sunday a 70 percent increase in vehicle traffic on the roads leading to this province compared to the same period last year, and the General Directorate of Road Administration and Road Transport of Khorasan Razavi also said that the total number of road trips to this province during the Nowruz holidays increased by 72 percent compared to last year.
Local officials in Qazvin and Ardabil have also reported a 100 percent increase in traffic on suburban roads in these provinces.
It seems that Nowruz travel will continue in the coming days.
In this context, the Road Administration and Transport Organization announced on Monday heavy traffic on the Chalus axis, south to north, between Shahrestanak and Vali Abad, at most sections, and smooth traffic on the Haraz, Firouzkouh, North Tehran Freeway, and Qazvin-Rasht Freeway (round trip).
Also, the Karaj-Tehran freeway in the Jahan Nama town area has semi-heavy traffic.
According to the latest official statistics, the highest output of vehicles came from Tehran and Alborz provinces, and the northern provinces experienced the highest accumulation of non-local vehicles.
Statistics from the National Road Management Center's intelligent transportation systems show that from March 10 to April 1, an average of 1,730,229 vehicles traveled on interprovincial highways daily, which is a 47 percent increase compared to the same period during Nowruz last year.
