Dowlatabadi: In the petrochemical case, the embezzlement of six billion is a lie; it was corruption, not embezzlement

On Tuesday, the Tehran prosecutor, in an explanation about the corruption case in Iran's petrochemical industry, harshly criticized some media outlets and said that the case was "corruption, but not embezzlement."

Abbas Jafari Dolatabadi has not clearly explained the difference between the two in this case.

He also said: "The total amount of money they have taken is 22 million euros and 15 million dollars."

Previously, in the indictment presented in court, only one amount attributed to Marjan Sheikholeslami was announced: $16,653,000, on charges of "participating in disrupting the economic system" and "acquiring illicit wealth."

According to this judicial official, "The fact that newspapers headlined that six billion dollars or euros were embezzled is false."
