Donald Trump fires top cybersecurity official

US President Donald Trump on Tuesday fired Chris Krebs, the top cybersecurity official at the Department of Homeland Security.
Donald Trump has accused the government official in a tweet of making "very false" statements.
According to Reuters, although US officials have praised the cybersecurity agency's performance, Krebs has drawn the ire of the Trump administration for a website he launched for the election campaign called "Rumor Control."
White House officials demanded that the website's content be edited or removed, claiming that it contained false statements about the election, a claim that Krebs opposed.
Chris Krebs, director of the U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CSIS), part of the Department of Homeland Security, said in a statement last week: "The November 3 election was the most secure election in American history."
The top US cybersecurity official predicted last week that he would be fired from his position.
