Syrian Observatory for Human Rights: 6 Iranian forces killed in Israeli attacks

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights announced on Thursday, August 23, that Israeli missile strikes on southern Syria this week killed six Iranian forces.
According to a report by this non-profit organization that monitors the events of the Syrian war, Israel targeted "Iranian and pro-Iranian militias and intelligence and military sites and positions" with its missiles on Wednesday morning.
Syrian state media have also covered reports of Israeli military attacks on military positions of the Syrian government and its allies in Daraa province, but these reports do not mention the possible number of casualties in the attacks.
According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, six Iranian forces and three pro-Syrian government forces were killed in these attacks.
Since the start of the Syrian civil war in 2011, Israel has carried out hundreds of airstrikes on Syrian territory, targeting the country's government forces and its key allies, including Iran and Lebanon's Hezbollah.
Israeli officials usually do not explain the attacks, insisting only that they are exercising their right to defend themselves against Iran and Hezbollah. The area targeted by Israeli strikes on Wednesday is adjacent to the Golan Heights, which Israel occupies.
The Syrian war has so far left more than 370,000 dead and led to the intervention of regional and global powers.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights says that less than a month ago, Israel killed six civilians, including three children, as well as nine members of forces supporting the Bashar al-Assad regime with its airstrikes.
