Earthquake of magnitude 3.9 in the suburbs of Tehran province

An earthquake measuring 3.9 on the Richter scale was felt in some areas of Tehran on Sunday evening, August 14.

According to a preliminary report from the National Seismological Center of the Institute of Geophysics at the University of Tehran, the earthquake struck eastern Tehran province at 5:15 p.m. local time, on the border between Tehran and Mazandaran provinces near Bumehan.

Peyman Sabrian, head of the country's emergency center, announced that the earthquake has not caused any damage or injuries so far.

This earthquake was also felt in Damavand. In May last year, a 5.1 magnitude earthquake in Damavand killed one person and injured several residents of the city.

Last June, Tehran was also shaken by a 4.4-magnitude earthquake. The earthquake occurred at a depth of ten kilometers from Tehran (Damavand-Roudehen) at 1:41 p.m.

For years, experts have been warning about the possibility of a severe earthquake in Tehran, and this has caused great concern among the city's citizens.
