Samir Geagea: Lebanon's Hezbollah must lay down its weapons as soon as possible

Samir Geagea, leader of Lebanon's largest Christian party, said: "Lebanese Hezbollah must lay down its weapons as soon as possible."

Samir Geagea, the largest leader of the Lebanese Christian Party, who is known as a figure opposed to Hezbollah, said last Thursday during an interview at the headquarters of the Lebanese Forces party in "Merab" located north of Beirut: "The Hezbollah militia group must lay down its weapons as soon as possible and keep Lebanon away from the danger of further war and killing. The cost of destroying Hezbollah's infrastructure and ammunition depots is the destruction of a large part of Lebanon."

He also said in part of his conversation: "If the challenges and costs resulting from the war between Israel and Hezbollah are so great, the Lebanese should use it to return their country to normal conditions." He announced that the disarmament of all militia groups in the country, with the exception of the Lebanese army, is the shortest and least expensive way to end the war.

He also noted that even if Hezbollah were to regain its strength, Israel would have military and economic superiority over the Iranian-backed group. He also considered a possible war unlikely and stated that his party was firmly opposed to such a war.
