Floods in Fars Province leave several dead and injured

Flooding and inundation caused by heavy rains in parts of Fars province have left several people dead and blocked roads. The flooding has also reportedly disrupted flights.
According to Mehr News Agency, most cities in Fars Province, especially southern cities, have been affected by flooding.
According to the news agency, which was published in the early hours of Monday morning, two people have been killed and four others injured in the floods so far.
Iran's Emergency Organization has said that a 50-year-old woman in the city of Darab lost her life after falling into a stream that had filled with water due to heavy rain.
Mehdi Khobyar, deputy director of the Fars Red Crescent Society's relief and rescue department, also said that a passenger in a car that was caught in a flood following the seasonal overflow of the Lamerd River lost his life.
He said a total of nine people were trapped in three cars, and rescue workers were able to rescue eight of them. Mehdi Khobyar said the call for help was made at night.
Also, a flight from Dubai to Larestan was forced to change its route and went to Shiraz instead of Larestan.
The head of the Parsian Gas Refinery Crisis Committee also said that due to flooding and the blocking of access roads to the main highway on the Lamerd-Mehr axis, a passenger vehicle was involved in an accident, in which four refinery workers were injured.
Previously, media in Iran had reported flooding in the city of Ahvaz due to heavy rain.
Media in Iran reported on January 1 that the Meteorological Organization had issued flood warnings for 14 provinces, including Bushehr, Fars, Hormozgan, Khuzestan, Sistan and Baluchestan, Yazd, and Kerman.
