Amnesty International: Two 17-year-olds secretly executed in Shiraz

Amnesty International announced on Monday that Mehdi Sohrabifar and Amin Sedaghat, both 17 years old, were secretly executed in Adelabad Prison in Shiraz on Thursday of last week.
The two teenagers were arrested in 2017 when they were 15 years old and, according to Amnesty International, were charged with "rape" "in an unfair trial."
According to the same report, whip marks were seen on the bodies of the two teenagers, indicating that they were whipped before being hanged.
Amnesty International has also reported, based on information it has received, that the two teenagers were unaware of the execution until the last moments.
Philip Luther, a director of Amnesty International, condemned the executions, emphasizing that the Islamic Republic's authorities "have once again disgustingly proven that they have no qualms about killing children and violating international human rights law."
Iran, along with Saudi Arabia, Yemen, and Pakistan, are the only countries that execute "criminals" who committed crimes under the age of 18, but the number of such executions in Iran is higher than in others.
