Farzaneh Ansarifar, sister of one of those killed in the November protests, sentenced to 4.5 years in prison by court

A human rights activist says that Farzaneh Ansarifar has been sentenced to “four years and six months of penal servitude” in a lower court. She is the sister of Farzad Ansarifar, one of the victims of the November 2019 crackdown on protests in Behbahan.

Human rights activist Arash Sadeghi announced in a tweet that this verdict was issued by Branch 1 of the Mahshahr Islamic Revolutionary Court and that if confirmed, it will be enforceable for "three years and six months."

Ms. Ansarifar is one of 19 civil society activists living in Behbahan who were arrested in July 2020, and their group trial was held on Monday, December 5, at the Mahshahr Islamic Revolutionary Court.

In recent days, his father and brother, Amin and Arman Ansarifar, have also been arrested in Behbahan.

The Islamic Republic's security and judicial pressure on families seeking justice in Iran has increased.
