Farhad Meysami was transferred to the hospital on the sixteenth day of his hunger strike.

Farhad Meysami's lawyer announced that the political prisoner, who has been on a hunger strike for more than two weeks to protest the possibility of executing the sentence of imprisoned dual-nationality researcher Ahmad Reza Jalali, was transferred to the hospital due to his deteriorating physical condition.
Mohammad Moghimi tweeted on Saturday, May 21, coinciding with the sixteenth day of Mr. Meysami's hunger strike: "My client's life is in danger."
Farhad Meysami, who has been on a hunger strike to protest the possibility of Ahmad Reza Jalali's execution, has refused to receive serum at the hospital.
Mr. Meysami had previously published a letter from inside Rajai Shahr Prison, calling on all activists and human rights organizations to pay attention to Ahmad Reza Jalali's condition, saying: "He is one of the most helpless people on earth these days. Don't let Jalali be executed."
Ahmadreza Jalali is a physician and researcher who traveled to Iran to participate in a crisis management workshop and was arrested in May 2016. Amnesty International reported that after nine months in prison, including three months in solitary confinement, Jalali was convicted of espionage in a Revolutionary Court without a lawyer present and later sentenced to death.
Zabihollah Khodayian, a spokesman for the judiciary, announced on Tuesday, May 10, that Ahmad Reza Jalali's death sentence is final and "the judiciary will act based on the issued verdict."
In addition to Farhad Meysami, imprisoned civil activist Zartasht Ahmadi Ragheb also went on a hunger strike to protest Mr. Jalali's death sentence.
