Honor-motivated murder of a man in Tehran

In July of this year, a man was murdered on Afsariyeh Street in Tehran by a woman's family in an honor killing. Two suspects, the woman's brother and husband, were arrested in this case and their case was sent to a criminal court in a Tehran province with an indictment.
According to HRANA news agency, citing Rokna, in July of this year, the body of a young man was found on Afsariyeh Street.
According to the report, the person had been stabbed to death and his throat had been slit. The body was transferred to the forensics department by court order. Subsequent investigations revealed that the body belonged to a 32-year-old man named Armin.
After examining the body, forensic experts announced in a report that Armin was injected with drugs several times before his death and then stabbed to death.
In the first step of the investigation, the police reviewed the victim's phone calls and discovered that he had an appointment with a young woman named Shaida that day.
The young woman was then tracked down and arrested, and she went on to describe the details of the murder. She claimed: "I married my husband, who is a police officer, a few years ago, and now I have a 4-year-old daughter. Some time ago, we were riding in a Peugeot with my daughter as passengers to go out, but the driver tricked me and harassed me by offering me poisoned juice and took videos and photos of me. But I was afraid and kept quiet and did not say anything to my husband until a few days later, when my brother Shahin came to our house. He noticed that I was in a state of mental turmoil and had been crying. When he asked me about the incident, I told him that a driver named Saeed had harassed me, taken videos and photos of me, and kept calling me to blackmail me."
The woman continued: "My brother told me not to tell my husband about this until he found Saeed and disciplined him, and a few days later my husband also found out about the incident. My brother had investigated and found out that Saeed was an addict. So my husband and brother decided to make an appointment with Saeed and inject him with enough drugs so that he would die and the secret of his death would not be revealed."
The woman added: "The last time Saeed called me, he asked me for 10 million tomans. He said that if I gave him the money, he would return the photos and videos to me. That's why I went on the date. My brother and husband also came there, and when Saeed got into the car, they trapped him and injected him with drugs several times. It was near Afsariyeh that my brother got Saeed out of the car. When he returned a few minutes later, he said that he had pulled a knife on him and cut his head off."
Following the woman's statements, her brother and husband, Ramin, were arrested and confessed to the honor killing. But each blamed the other for the murder. While Shaida had identified her husband as the perpetrator in subsequent interrogations, she wrote a letter saying she intended to tell the truth.
The woman said: "Because my husband was a police officer, the officer handling my case said that if I retracted my previous statements about Saeed's rape and taking the video and photos and confessed to the murder myself, it would satisfy the parents. That's why I said in subsequent interrogations that my husband killed Saeed. But I retracted my statement again. Now I'm telling the truth. My brother committed the murder."
Based on this woman's new statements, Shahin was charged with murder and kidnapping, and Ramin was charged with kidnapping and aiding and abetting murder, and their cases were sent to a criminal court in a province in Tehran.
Meanwhile, Ramin requested to be released on bail until the trial date, but the judges of Branch 5 of the Criminal Court of Tehran Province, after reviewing the case, rejected this request and announced that this murder was committed out of honor and that both defendants should remain in prison until the trial.
Thus, the police officer, his wife, and his brother-in-law are scheduled to defend themselves in court soon, while the victim's parents have filed a request for retribution.
