Student activist Leila Hosseinzadeh summoned to serve five-year prison sentence

Leila Hosseinzadeh, a student activist who was released on bail from Adelabad Prison in Shiraz last week after 26 days of detention, announced on Sunday, January 9, that her five-year prison sentence had been implemented.

Ms. Hosseinzadeh wrote in a tweet that, according to the sentence enforcement notice, she must report to Evin Prison within five days of January 8 (the date of the sentence announcement) to serve her five-year sentence.

This student activist was previously sentenced to “five years in prison” and “a two-year ban on online activities” by Branch 28 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court. This sentence was confirmed in full by the Tehran Provincial Court of Appeal.

His charge in this case is "gathering and colluding with the intent to act against national security."

Ms. Hosseinzadeh was summoned despite having previously been exempted from serving her previous sentence by receiving a "certificate of non-tolerance of punishment" from the forensic doctor.

Leila Hosseinzadeh was last arrested on the evening of December 6th this year during a trip to Shiraz, in the presence of numerous security forces. After nearly two weeks of absence, she announced in a phone call that she had been transferred to Security Ward 209 of Evin Prison, but a few days later, she was transferred to Shiraz's central prison, known as "Adelabad."

Ms. Hosseinzadeh was finally released from Shiraz Prison on January 2, with bail set at "one billion and five hundred million tomans" "temporarily" and pending the completion of the trial.
