Deprivation of treatment for "Sedighe Vasmaghi" in Evin Prison

"Sedighe Vasmaghi," an analyst of political and social issues imprisoned in Evin Prison, has been denied access to hospital and treatment.

Sedighe Vasmaghi was arrested by security forces on March 16, 1402 (March 17, 1403) and transferred to Evin Prison. Her indictment was issued on charges of propaganda against the regime in cyberspace and appearing in public without a hijab, and was referred to Branch 26 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court.

Sedighe Wasmaghi, who suffers from high blood pressure, heart rate, and blood sugar, was in poor physical condition on Monday, April 4, and the prison medical doctor ordered her immediate transfer to the hospital, but due to the obstruction of the prison authorities, she was deprived of medical attention. Ms. Wasmaghi's physical condition deteriorated sharply, after which the medical doctor emphasized that Ms. Wasmaghi's condition was an emergency, and the next day she was sent to a medical center outside the prison, but less than 24 hours after she was sent to the hospital and despite the doctor's insistence that she needed to undergo a cardiac angioplasty, Ms. Wasmaghi was returned to prison.

A report on this matter was published on a page attributed to Sedighe Vasmaghi, and while noting that the prevention of her being sent to the hospital was ordered by the head of the prison organization, it was written: "Due to the instability of Ms. Vasmaghi's heart condition, she was supposed to be sent from Evin Prison to Pars Hospital on Monday. A decision that was also approved by the head of prison health and the head of Evin Prison, but was nevertheless prevented. It was again announced that she was supposed to be sent to the hospital on Tuesday, which has not been possible to date."

Political-religious prisoners, human rights activists, protesters, lawyers and other opponents of the Islamic Republic of Iran's regime imprisoned in Iranian prisons, especially Evin Prison, are under severe pressure, harassment, persecution and torture by prison officials, and many of them, who suffer from illnesses, are denied access to medical treatment. In many cases, some of them have lost their lives due to lack of medical attention, and prison officials have refused to publish the news of their deaths.
