Official: Economic problems have pushed the selling price of kidneys up to 200 million Tomans

The director of the Kermanshah Province Kidney Disease Association says, "Currently, the approved price for purchasing a kidney is 80 million Tomans," but economic problems have made people unwilling to sell at this price, and the selling price of a kidney has reached "150 to 200 million Tomans."
Hossein Biglari also said that due to economic problems, "many people" in Iran are willing to sell their kidneys, but the main problem is that "almost all of our patients cannot afford to buy a kidney" and the government should help these people.
He also denied reports about "Iraqis buying the kidneys of Iranian citizens," but said, "If someone wants to sell their kidney abroad, the government cannot prevent this person from leaving."
In recent days, reports have been published that a number of Iranian citizens in Iraq have been sold for dollars.
The Tejarat News website published a report on this subject, writing that "poverty and financial problems" have caused "some Iranians to travel to Iraq to sell their kidneys, where they can sell them at a higher price than in Iran."
