Pope Francis' representative meets with Ayatollah Sistani's representative in Iraq

A representative of Pope Francis, the leader of the world's Catholics, met with a representative of Ayatollah Sistani in Karbala, Iraq.

According to "Redna", Pope Francis' representative in the Vatican and his entourage visited Sheikh Abdul Mahdi al-Karbalai in Karbala during their trip to Iraq and inquired about his health after surgery.

Sheikh Abdul Mahdi, while thanking for the meeting, referred to the situation of the Palestinian people in Gaza and called for the intervention of all countries in the world regarding the situation of the Palestinian people in Gaza, saying: "We stand with the oppressed everywhere in the world, just as we stand against the oppression, tyranny, and genocide that has befallen the Palestinian people."

Emphasizing that humanitarian positions require us to support the Palestinian people in their suffering, he added: "We understand the oppression of the Palestinian people in Gaza and the deaths of thousands of them. Especially since, according to what international organizations have announced, 70 percent of the victims are women and children."

The representative of Pope Francis and his accompanying delegation also emphasized support for the people of Gaza and humanitarian positions in dealing with them.

Sheikh Abdul Mahdi Karbalai thanked and appreciated the representative of Pope Francis and his accompanying delegation for this trip and visit, and asked them to convey his greetings to the Pope in the Vatican.
