On Sunday, August 1, the Minister of Health of the Islamic Republic of Iran sent a letter to Khamenei, explaining the very dire conditions prevailing in Iran's health system in dealing with the Delta strain of the coronavirus.

According to the letter, which was initially published on ISNA news agency and then removed from the agency's output after a while, the Minister of Health of the Islamic Republic began the letter by stating that the last meeting of the National Coronavirus Management Headquarters was held in the 12th government.

He spoke of the "fierce fifth wave" and the "breathtaking and exhausting days and nights" of medical staff, asking: "To what authority can we turn in this lonely wilderness so that perhaps the machine of endless disease production...can be stopped?"
