Najmeh Vahedi, women's rights activist, arrested

Reports indicate that women's rights activist Najmeh Vahedi has been arrested.
According to news published on social media on Saturday, September 1, citing journalists and civil society activists, Najmeh Vahedi was arrested at the same time as Hoda Amid, a lawyer and women's rights activist.
The two held workshops to teach young women about the terms of marriage.

On Saturday, reports were also published of the arrest of lawyers Payam Darfashan and Farrokh Forouzan by agents of the Ministry of Intelligence.
The arrest and repression of civil activists, students, and protesting citizens by the Islamic Republic's security apparatus has been repeatedly criticized in recent months by international human rights organizations and the US State Department.
