Warning against placing the Revolutionary Guard Corps on the list of terrorist organizations

An unnamed US official has warned that adding the IRGC to the list of terrorist organizations would cut off any dialogue with Iran. Iran's foreign minister has also said that such actions would not benefit the US.
On Saturday (February 25), Reuters reported that the likelihood of Trump issuing an order to designate Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps as a terrorist group has decreased, following repeated warnings from US and European security and defense officials about the unpleasant consequences of such a move.
Reuters quoted a US official who insisted on anonymity as saying: "If you do this, you will eliminate any possibility of dialogue with Iran on any issue."
In this regard, the fight against the "Islamic State" group (ISIS) and the implementation of the nuclear agreement (JCPOA) have been mentioned.
A Reuters source said that Trump's draft order is still under review and it is unclear whether it will ultimately be issued. The reason for this was stated to be a warning from American security officials.
Experts believe that placing the Revolutionary Guard on the list of terrorist groups is part of the US president's efforts to take a tougher stance against the Islamic Republic.
The US government has repeatedly sanctioned individuals and companies associated with the Revolutionary Guard Corps and added Iran to the list of countries that sponsor terrorism, along with Syria and Sudan.
This month, the US Treasury Department announced the addition of 12 companies and 13 individuals to the US sanctions list against Iran following Iran's missile tests.
Against American interests
The Islamic Republic has consistently denied any involvement in terrorist activities. On Saturday, Mohammad Javad Zarif, on the sidelines of the “Ceremony to Honor the Families of Martyrs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs,” said in this regard: “The whole world acknowledges that the Revolutionary Guard Corps has received the most support from neighboring countries against Takfiri terrorist groups and ISIS.”
He also stated: "These American moves have never benefited Americans."
