Solidarity with peaceful protesters against racism in America; in defense of the universal right to peaceful protest
The killing of George Floyd was not just the killing of one person, but an attack on justice and the rule of law. It is yet another example of the many instances of organized police violence against people of color that have gone unpunished.
The Human Rights Campaign in Iran, while condemning this murder, offers its deepest condolences to Mr. Floyd's family and applauds and supports all those who are peacefully protesting against the racism and lawlessness that continue to plague American police forces.
In the words of American lawyer and social activist Brian Stevenson, “Hopelessness is the enemy of justice.” Let us all work to identify and eradicate such injustices, wherever they occur, until the day comes when no more innocent lives are taken by those we rely on to protect us.
