Caspian Airlines plane crashes in Isfahan; three passengers injured

A passenger plane in Isfahan veered off the runway and then stopped on Wednesday due to what officials said was a "technical fault."
Hassan Amjadi, the director general of Isfahan Airports, told Mehr News Agency that the Mashhad-Isfahan flight veered off course and stopped on the edge of the runway at 5:03 p.m. on Wednesday, January 5. He said there was a technical failure in the left main wheel.
According to the report, three of the 117 passengers on board suffered "superficial injuries." The director general of Isfahan Airports said the rescue operation was carried out "in a timely manner."
The Mehr report says that the plane was Caspian Airlines flight number 737.
Iran's aviation industry has been severely damaged, including due to years of sanctions and mismanagement, and air accidents in Iran have increased significantly in the years following the 1979 revolution compared to many other countries.
