Israel's reaction to Raisi's speech: Islamic Republic is a "clear and immediate" threat to world peace

On Tuesday, the Israeli Foreign Ministry described Ebrahim Raisi's cabinet as the "extremist face" of the Islamic Republic and said that the regime ruling Iran is "a clear and immediate threat to peace in the Middle East and the world."

According to the Jerusalem Post, the Israeli Foreign Ministry statement issued on Tuesday, September 20, in response to the virtual speech by Ebrahim Raisi, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, at the United Nations General Assembly, stated: “The new government in Iran, headed by Raisi and most of its ministers, is the extremist face of a regime that has harmed Iranian citizens, encouraged and financed terrorism, and destabilized the entire Middle East for more than 40 years.”

The Israeli Foreign Ministry also says: "The president continues to deceive the international community with a speech full of lies and cynicism. The international community must condemn the Iranian regime and prevent any possible acquisition of nuclear weapons and capabilities by these extremists."

In a pre-recorded video speech broadcast at the 76th United Nations General Assembly, President Ebrahim Raisi claimed that the Islamic Republic has fulfilled its commitments in this regard, referring to Iran's nuclear file.

Hours before Raisi's speech, US President Joe Biden, in his speech at the UN General Assembly, emphasized that Washington is committed to preventing Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon.

Mr. Biden said that the United States wants to address Iran's nuclear issues using diplomacy and diplomatic methods, and if Iran returns to full compliance with the JCPOA nuclear agreement, the United States will also join this agreement.

On the eve of Ebrahim Raisi's speech, a number of Iranians opposed to the Islamic Republic held a protest rally in New York, calling on the international community to impose nuclear sanctions on the Islamic Republic and investigate Ebrahim Raisi's actions and record in the 1960s.
