Israel’s Response to Raisi’s Speech: Islamic Republic is an ‘Obvious and Imminent’ Threat to Global Peace

Israel’s Foreign Ministry on Tuesday described the cabinet of Ibrahim Raisi as the “extremist face” of the Islamic Republic and said that the Iranian ruling system is “an obvious and imminent threat to peace in the Middle East and the world.”
According to the Jerusalem Post, in a statement released by Israel’s Foreign Ministry on Tuesday, September 21, in response to Ibrahim Raisi’s virtual speech, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, at the United Nations General Assembly, it was stated: “The new government in Iran, headed by Raisi and most of its ministers, are the extremist face of a regime that for over 40 years has harmed Iranian citizens, encouraged and financed terrorism, and destabilized the entire Middle East.”
The Israeli Foreign Ministry also stated: “Raisi continues to deceive the international community with a speech full of lies and prejudice. The international community must condemn the Iranian regime and prevent any potential access by these extremists to weapons and nuclear capabilities.”
Ibrahim Raisi, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, in a pre-recorded video speech broadcast at the 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly, claimed that the Islamic Republic has fulfilled its commitments regarding Iran’s nuclear file.
Hours before Raisi’s speech, Joe Biden, President of the United States, emphasized in his address to the United Nations General Assembly that Washington is committed to preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.
Mr. Biden said the United States wants to address Iran’s nuclear issues through diplomacy and diplomatic methods, and if Iran returns to full compliance with the JCPOA nuclear agreement, the United States will also join this agreement.
On the eve of Ibrahim Raisi’s speech, a number of Iranians opposed to the Islamic Republic in New York held a protest rally, calling on the international community to impose nuclear sanctions on the Islamic Republic while also investigating the actions and record of Ibrahim Raisi in the 1980s.
