Ali Mojtahedzadeh Reacts to Shop Closures by Qeshm Friday Prayer Leader

“Ali Mojtahedzadeh” responded to the closure of shops and business premises of citizens by the Friday prayer leader of Qeshm.

“Gholamreza Hajabi,” the Friday prayer leader of Qeshm, visited shopping centers and public places and issued warnings regarding public fasting breaking and improper hijab in public spaces, issuing orders to seal shops that failed to comply and provided services to improperly veiled women.

“Ali Mojtahedzadeh,” a lawyer, also reacted to this action and stated: “Issuing orders to seal businesses and public centers is among matters that can only be done by judicial authorities or judicial officials, and only through following the legal process and based on legal rules and evidence. That is, not only can no authority other than judicial authorities or judicial officials take such action, but even those competent authorities do not have the power to do so outside the framework of laws. By this standard, the Friday prayer leader of Qeshm has committed two simultaneous illegal acts. Sealing business units and people’s businesses due to providing services to or the presence of improperly veiled customers has no legal basis or credibility whatsoever.”

The order to seal shops by the Friday prayer leader, setting fire to the discretion of a city over fasting and improper hijab, came while five months have passed since the chemical attacks on schools and poisoning of students, and no action has been taken by the system regarding these attacks. If the hijab were the main problem and issue of society that would be dealt with in this manner by various authorities.
