The deputy head of medical treatment at Ardabil University of Medical Sciences, referring to the admission of 330 patients in a single night shift at Imam Khomeini Hospital in Ardabil, said: "We have an unprecedented and critical situation."

Mohammad Reza Rezaei-Bana, who spoke to Fars News Agency on Sunday evening, July 19, announced that the hospital's capacity has been filled and two more hospitals have been added to accept patients with coronavirus.

Noting that some people with coronavirus "have died upon arrival at the emergency room," he said: "The majority of deaths are those born in the 60s and 70s."

The coronavirus outbreak situation in Mazandaran province has also been declared critical. According to Abbas Mousavi, the president of the province's University of Medical Sciences, 339 patients have been hospitalized in the province's hospitals in the past 24 hours.

In recent days, Ministry of Health officials have been trying to contain the second wave of the coronavirus outbreak in Iran by making masks mandatory, imposing some restrictions, and advising people not to hold religious, cultural, and family ceremonies.
