Pope Francis: The inability of the international community to stop the war is shameful

Pope Francis called the international community's inability to stop the war between Israel and Hamas shameful.
It has been a year since Hamas attacked Israel and the start of the war between the two countries, a war that killed, injured thousands of people, and captured many civilians, including children and adults.
Pope Francis, who has repeatedly issued messages calling for a ceasefire and has also repeatedly called on the international community to intervene to end the war, this time on the first anniversary of the war between Israel and Hamas, issued a letter addressed to Catholics in the region, noting that the great powers have shamefully failed in achieving a ceasefire and being unable to stop the war, saying: "A year ago, the spark of war and hatred was lit, but it is still exploding in a spiral of violence.
"Few people seem to care about what is most needed and desirable, namely dialogue and peace. Violence never brings peace, history has proven this, yet years of conflict seem to have taught us nothing."
Pope Francis, the leader of the world's Catholics, directly addressed the Catholics of Gaza in the aforementioned letter: "I am with you, the people of Gaza, who have been in conflict and hardship for a long time. You are in my thoughts and prayers every day. I am with you who have been forced to leave your homes, abandon school and work to find shelter from the bombing. I am with you who are afraid to look up at the sky for fear of a rain of fire falling."
It should be noted that Pope Francis, in addition to speaking more openly about the war between Hamas and Israel in recent weeks, declared Monday, October 7, a day of fasting and prayer for peace for Catholic Christians around the world.
