Father and son arrested for stealing train track bolts

The police chief of Rudbar in Gilan province announced the arrest of a father and son for stealing train bolts and nuts. According to ISNA news agency, police officers became suspicious of the two men's pickup truck while patrolling in Lushan on Tuesday, November 11, and after chasing and stopping the vehicle, they discovered hundreds of train bolts and nuts.

There have been previous reports of train track bolts being stolen in some provinces of Iran. The loosening of 168 bolts from a train track last month caused a Zahedan-Tehran train to derail, killing four and injuring more than 150.

The Iranian media report did not mention the motive for these thefts. In recent years, as the economic crisis in Iran intensified, unemployment rates rose, and financial pressure on citizens increased, theft of public property such as electrical cables, rail bolts, and even city statues has increased.

The United States says the leaders of the Islamic Republic of Iran are spending the country's wealth on supporting terrorist groups in other countries instead of spending it on their own people.
