Pezzekian, MP: The real number of daily coronavirus victims is more than 1,500

Masoud Pezhakian, a member of the Iranian Parliament's Health Commission, said: "The actual daily death toll from the coronavirus in the country is higher than 1,500."

Criticizing the Ministry of Health's approach to announcing the number of coronavirus victims in Iran, he said: "It's as if people are dying." According to the Ministry of Health's report, the number of coronavirus victims in Iran is around 115,000, but other sources, including the directors of the Iranian Medical System Organization, have repeatedly stated that the number of victims in Iran is 3 to 4 times the Ministry of Health's figure.

Referring to the vaccination process in Iran, Mr. Pezzekian also said that the Iranian government "moved a little late in importing due to political issues."

The import of vaccinations has accelerated in recent days, but the MP said that the order to purchase vaccines was placed by the previous government and that the Raisi government "has not ordered any vaccines."

In recent days, there has been extensive debate about the main culprit behind the delay in vaccine imports, and supporters of Ebrahim Raisi consider the acceleration of vaccine imports a sign that the Hassan Rouhani government is to blame, saying that the Rouhani government was making political excuses for not importing the vaccine.

Critics of the presidential administration, however, say that things such as the decree banning the import of British and American vaccines by the Leader of the Islamic Republic, the promises of the Executive Headquarters of the Imam's Decree to produce 50 million doses of the vaccine by September of this year, and sanctions have played a role in this regard.
