Coronavirus has claimed the lives of more than 20,000 people in Iran; travel to Mazandaran is prohibited

With 153 more deaths from COVID-19, the official death toll in Iran has reached 20,125.

According to Sima Sadat Lari, in the past 24 hours, 2,444 new patients with Covid-19 have been identified in the country, of which 1,132 have been hospitalized.

He said: "The total number of Covid-19 patients in the country has reached 350,279."

Official coronavirus statistics in Iran have always been questioned by domestic experts and some officials, such as city council members and parliamentarians.

Ms. Sadat Lari also warned all people to "abstain from any unnecessary travel to Mazandaran Province."

In addition to Mazandaran, the provinces of Tehran, Qom, Golestan, North Khorasan, Ardabil, Isfahan, Alborz, Khorasan Razavi, Kerman, Semnan, East Azerbaijan, Markazi, Yazd, and Gilan are still in red status.
