Discovery of a Sasanian-era inscription in Naqsh-e Rustam

The director of the Persepolis World Heritage Site announced the discovery of a Sassanid inscription in the Naqsh-e Rostam historical complex in Fars Province.
Hamid Fadaei explained in an interview with the ILNA news agency on Sunday, May 27, that the inscription is in the "Pahlavi-Sassanian script" and suggested that other inscriptions may be discovered at this site.
In February 2018, the announcement of the discovery of an inscription in this complex attracted the attention of archaeologists.
This trilingual inscription, which contained information about military clothing and equipment, was of great importance to researchers for understanding the Achaemenid era.
According to Hamid Fadaei, there are many works from the Elamite, Achaemenid, and Sasanian periods in the Naqsh-e Rostam complex, which are gradually being discovered.
He also said that due to the occurrence of a long period of drought in the country and the high extraction of groundwater in Marvdasht County, there were concerns about the existence of "sinkholes in Naqsh-e Rostam and the Persepolis complex," which have decreased after the increase in rainfall.
He said that 15 years ago, the groundwater level in Marvdasht was about 20 meters, but now its depth has reached more than 200 meters.
