Child Abuse Leads Social Emergency Contacts

The head of the Social Emergency Department of Iran’s Welfare Organization said: Among contacts made with the social emergency service regarding domestic violence, the highest number of contacts and in other words, the first-ranked contacts are related to child abuse.

In fact, approximately 25 percent of all contacts with the social emergency service are related to the field of child abuse, and overall it can be said that compared to the past, the statistics of contacts and identification of cases in this field have increased.

He also stated that statistics on domestic violence in Iran cannot be accurately estimated because women typically do not file complaints about this issue, and accurate statistics cannot be provided in this regard.
