Kuwait: Arash oil field is an issue between Iran, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait

A few days after Iran protested the new agreement between Saudi Arabia and Kuwait on the development of the joint Arash/Dora gas field, Kuwait announced that the development of this gas field is relevant to all three countries.
Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Ahmed Nasser Al-Mohammed Al-Sabah has emphasized that the Arash gas field is "a trilateral issue between Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Iran."
According to a statement from the Kuwait Oil Company, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia signed a document on March 21 to develop the Arash gas field, which is expected to produce one billion standard cubic feet of gas per day and 84,000 barrels per day of condensate.
In response, Saeed Khatibzadeh, spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, called the new agreement between Saudi Arabia and Kuwait aimed at developing the joint Arash/Dora gas field "illegal" and said that Iran's right to exploit the field is still reserved.
He emphasized that, based on previous negotiations, any action to exploit and develop this field must be taken with the coordination and cooperation of all three countries.
However, at the same time, the Kuwaiti Foreign Minister's position is being published a day after Iran's Oil Minister claimed in a tweet that Iran will "soon begin drilling operations in this field."
Javad Oji, the Minister of Oil, also wrote: "Comprehensive studies of the Arash Joint Field have been completed with the drilling of an exploratory well and the conduct of seismic surveys."
The Kuwaiti minister made no reference to this comment.
The Arash/Al-Darrah gas field is a joint field between Iran, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia, and parts of it are located within the undefined waters between Iran and Kuwait.
Previously, Kuwait National Oil Companies and Saudi Aramco established the KGO consortium in 2015 with the aim of developing the Arash field, and in September of the same year, they even began drilling an exploratory well to develop this joint field.
