A Kurdish political prisoner was sentenced to "40 years in prison"

A human rights group reported that the Iranian judiciary has sentenced Kurdish political prisoner Mohammad Hosseini to 40 years in prison and exile to Urmia Central Prison.
The Kurdistan Human Rights Network website wrote on Tuesday, June 24, that Mr. Hosseini was accused of "moharebeh" through his membership in the Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iran and was tried in Branch 1 of the Mahabad Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Javad Gholami.
The report adds that Mohammad Hosseini, from Naqdah, left the Iraqi Kurdistan Region and returned to Iran in 2017 after leaving the Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iran and receiving a "letter of protection" from the Revolutionary Guards, but was arrested a few months later and has been in prison ever since.
The Kurdistan Human Rights Network recently reported that another Kurdish political prisoner, Mohammad Moradi, had been sentenced to 40 years in prison and exile to Urmia Central Prison on similar charges.
