An Iranian official revealed that the real record of deaths from coronavirus in Iran is more than 800 people per day.

While the Iranian Ministry of Health continues to announce a daily death toll of 330 people due to the coronavirus, a member of the scientific committee of the headquarters to combat the coronavirus in Iran estimated the actual number of deaths from the coronavirus in Iran to be two and a half times the officially announced figure.

While the US State Department had previously repeatedly warned against the Iranian regime's concealment of the real number of coronavirus cases and deaths, a member of the Scientific Committee of the Coronavirus Response Headquarters announced on Tuesday, October 19, that the death toll on Monday, which was announced as 337, is actually more than 800.

The worsening of the coronavirus pandemic in Iran continues following the warning last week by the US State Department spokesperson, and after recording a new record in the number of deaths on Monday, according to the Iranian Ministry of Health, the number of daily infections reached 5,390 on Tuesday.

The accuracy of the statistics announced by the Islamic Republic, like those of China and Russia, is highly questionable, and based on the available evidence and contradictions observed in the statistics provided by various institutions, it can be said that accurate information is not being provided about the actual number of infected and dead. The World Health Organization and even the Research Center of the Islamic Consultative Assembly have announced that the actual number of infections and deaths is several times the official statistics in Iran. Last week, Iraj Harirchi, Iran's Deputy Minister of Health, admitted, 8 months after the start of the coronavirus, that the actual number of deaths from the coronavirus, depending on the provinces, is between 1.5 and 2.2 times the official number. Now, Masoud Mardani, a member of the Scientific Committee of the Headquarters for Combating Coronavirus in Iran, believes that the actual number is 2.5 times.

The third wave of the coronavirus pandemic in Iran began following the Muharram ceremony, the national university entrance exam, and the reopening of schools.

Currently, except for the three provinces of Hormozgan, Fars, and Golestan, which are on alert, all other provinces are on red alert. In the meantime, the Iranian government announced restrictions, including fines for not wearing masks and a ban on travel to a number of Iranian cities, which citizens and experts believe were too late, ineffective, and incorrectly implemented .

A number of citizens stated in an interview with Voice of America that the Iranian government has failed to adopt a correct and principled approach to dealing with the coronavirus, and now, as the situation becomes more dire, it is blaming the people for its inefficiency and intends to exact a penalty from the people.

The United States has warned about the cover-up and incompetence of the Islamic Republic of Iran's authorities since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic .

On Friday, March 29, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said in a meeting of the House of Representatives Foreign Affairs Committee that, given the Islamic Republic's record of secrecy, the Iranian regime is reluctant to provide information about the spread of the coronavirus, and I am concerned that they may have hidden important information .

The coronavirus crisis in Iran continues as government officials continue to impose severe media censorship. Jahan Sanat newspaper was among the media outlets that was shut down in mid-August after publishing an interview with a member of the National Coronavirus Task Force about the inaccuracy of Iran's official statistics.
