3 million Tehran residents at risk of land subsidence and collapse

The secretary of the National Working Group on Natural Hazards said: "In Iran, we are facing two geological hazard phenomena that have severely affected our urban safety." The texture of the southern areas of Tehran has several characteristics. The texture of these areas is mostly worn out, with narrow passages and worn out buildings. These buildings are easily vulnerable to subsidence and landslides.
According to him, about two million people are affected by land subsidence and collapse in the southern outskirts of Tehran, and in total, about three million people are exposed to these hazards in the residential area alone in Tehran.
