Coronavirus in Iran; Restrictions Increase in 124 Cities and Rise in Infections Among Young People Under 25

In the latest official coronavirus statistics in Iran, the Health Ministry spokesperson announced the identification of 6,597 new patients in the country over the past 24 hours and stated that 79 people died during this period.
Sima Sadat Lari said that with the inclusion of new figures, as of Monday, Bahman 13, the total number of coronavirus patients has reached 1,424,596 people and the total death toll from the disease stands at 58,038 people.
The Health Ministry’s official statistics on coronavirus have always been subject to doubt, and officials from the Medical System Organization have estimated the actual death toll from coronavirus in Iran to be three to four times higher than the officially announced figures.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Treatment Officer of the Tehran Province Coronavirus Headquarters stated that in some hospitals in the province we have faced a two-fold increase in outpatient visits, and this could be an indication of the curve rising toward increased infection rates and reactivation of the disease transmission cycle and chain.
Nader Toukali also reported an increase in coronavirus infections in people under 25 years of age and said that restrictions are likely to return again from next week.
AliReza Raisi, spokesperson of the National Coronavirus Task Force, also referring to the fact that travel restrictions have been effective in controlling the spread of coronavirus, said these restrictions “have been extended from orange zones to yellow zones.”
He said that currently no city is in the red situation, 18 cities are in orange status and 124 cities are in yellow status.
