Serious Warning from ‘Christian Activists for Free Iran’ Regarding Economic Hardship and Humanitarian Crisis

The organization ‘Christian Activists for Free Iran’ has seriously warned about the humanitarian crisis in Iran and emphasized the escalation of drug and food shortages and the necessity for immediate global action.

Following the escalation of economic and healthcare conditions in Iran, Christian Activists for Free Iran released a statement warning about what it described as an ‘expanding humanitarian crisis’ in the country and called for an immediate response from the global community.

The statement, released on April 21st, presents a concerning picture of living conditions in Iran; conditions that, according to the authors, are accompanied by increasing shortages of vital medications, medical equipment, food supplies, and other basic necessities. The report emphasizes that this situation directly threatens the lives of patients, the elderly, children, and other vulnerable populations.

This organization, which comprises church leaders, clergy, and Christian activists from various countries, in its assessment rejected narratives that attribute the current situation solely to external pressures, and states clearly: ‘A significant portion of the pressure on the Iranian people today is a direct result of the government’s crisis-creating, war-mongering, and tension-fueling policies.’

The statement further emphasizes that such policies are not pursued in the interest of the public good, but rather to preserve the power structure, suppress domestic discontent, and serve as a tool in international equations. The authors, describing the current conditions as ‘shocking,’ have accused the government of using the suffering of citizens as a tool of political pressure and have effectively transformed ordinary people into ‘human shields.’

In another section of the statement, reference is made to reports showing that some government institutions, including structures affiliated with military forces, have confiscated humanitarian aid sent for civilians and diverted it to the black market or toward allied groups outside the country. These claims have previously been raised in reports by some international organizations and media outlets, fueling concerns about transparency in aid distribution.

The organization further presented a set of practical demands directed at international bodies, churches, and governments. Among these demands are the establishment of safe corridors for delivering medicines and medical equipment, providing food supplies for needy families, and drawing a clear distinction between the Iranian people and the ruling structure in international policymaking.

The global community has also been asked to prevent political exploitation of this crisis and to clearly emphasize the responsibility of the Iranian government in creating and perpetuating the current conditions.

In the concluding section of the statement, criticism is leveled at what is described as ‘double standards’ of some international organizations. The authors, expressing regret over the silence in the face of the suffering of the Iranian people, have emphasized that humanitarian principles should not be selective, political, or dependent on geographical considerations.

This Christian group, referring to its moral and faith-based responsibility, has called upon the global community to stand with the Iranian people at this critical moment, rather than siding with power structures; a people who, according to them, need support, justice, and global solidarity more than ever before.
