Approximately 1,000 Addicted Children Placed Under Welfare Organization’s Care Annually

The Deputy of Social Affairs at the Welfare Organization stated: On average, around 5,000 children between infancy and 18 years of age are admitted to the Welfare Organization annually. These children enter the system for various reasons including child abuse, death of parents, and parental imprisonment, of which approximately 750 children are unidentified.

He added: There are also children who are addicted and have poor guardianship, meaning their parents themselves are addicts and have caused the child’s addiction, and lack the necessary qualifications to care for the child; in fact, annually about a thousand addicted children (adolescents) and infants are referred to us through the health system.
