Statement by Christian Citizens for a Free Iran Based on Freedom and Democratic Transition
A number of Christian citizens, through the publication of a statement and by sending letters regarding Iran’s future, have emphasized democratic transition, religious freedom, and support for the Iranian people.
Concurrent with the intensification of political and social crises in Iran, a group of Iranian Christian activists both inside and outside the country, through the publication of a letter on the subject of a free Iran, have declared their position regarding the country’s political future. The signatories of this statement also asked the people to follow news related to the country’s developments only from credible sources in order to prevent the creation of fear and confusion in society. They emphasized that preserving hope, peace, and national compassion during such critical periods is vital for overcoming the crisis.
In another letter signed by a number of Christian leaders, the Islamic Republic has been criticized for human rights violations and widespread suppression of citizens, and it has been emphasized that Iran, in order to achieve stability and progress, needs a transition to a free and democratic system.
