Political Prisoner Samad Poursheh’s Protest Appearance in Yasuj Revolution Square with Banner Calling for Unity of Iran’s Ethnicities

Political prisoner “Samad Poursheh” once again emphasized the unity of all Iranian ethnicities through a symbolic action in Yasuj’s Revolution Square.

Hours ago on Tuesday, September 1st, “Samad Poursheh,” a political prisoner and civil activist, appeared in Yasuj’s Revolution Square holding a banner calling for the unity of Iran’s ethnicities.

In this protest video that he released, he states: “Greetings to the honorable people of Iran. Today is September 1st, 1404; I declare that we, all the people of Iran, are united together. Long live Iran.” The banner he held in Yasuj’s Revolution Square read: “A free and prosperous Iran at world peace, with the unity of all of Iran’s ethnicities and without a plundering thief.”

Previously, he had also sewn his lips shut before appearing in Sanandaj’s Revolutionary Court, expressing his protest against “security-related fabrications” and emphasizing that he had committed no crime.

This civil activist was arrested in September 2023 on the first anniversary of Mahsa Amini’s death in Yasuj. After temporary release on bail in November of that year, he was transferred to Yasuj Prison in March to serve his sentence. Since then, he has repeatedly faced new accusations and security summons.

In one of his responses to security pressures, Samad Poursheh stated: “I will never regret, and I have life in my chest that is dedicated to Iran and the Iranian people.”

His record shows that his protests have consistently been met with harsh reactions from the Islamic Republic. Over the past four decades, the Iranian government has repeatedly subjected civil activists, religious minorities, and political opponents to repeated arrests, harsh sentences, and security pressures, a process that continues today.
