Democracy Advocates Support Prince Reza Pahlavi for Leadership During Transition Period

Democracy advocates, through the issuance of a statement, have expressed their support for Prince Reza Pahlavi to lead the transition period following the Islamic Republic.

A large number of pro-democracy Iranians from various political backgrounds released a statement on Sunday, July 13, corresponding to July 22 on the Iranian calendar, titled “Support from Democracy Advocates for Reza Pahlavi to Manage the Transition Period” in Persian, English, German, and French. In this statement, they announced the launch of a campaign against division and for broad Iranian unity aimed at overthrowing the criminal and destructive regime of the Islamic Republic.

The statement begins with the famous line “Do you want me and you to not be us” from the renowned poems of Hamid Mosaddegh titled “Blue, Gray, Black.” Democracy advocates wrote in this statement: “Those who fear the people’s power, those who rule through division, those who see their survival in our separation—they are the criminal and destructive regime of the Islamic Republic.”

They continued the statement as follows: “If we have reached this common understanding today, there is no longer room for silence and doubt. We can no longer remain on the sidelines; for now this regime stands in its weakest, most unsupported, and most unstable position in the past four decades, and we stand at the threshold of a historic decision.”

In this statement, while referring to the unity of people in a fateful moment, it was strongly emphasized that: “If we do not unite in this fateful moment, if we do not turn our will into action, this rotten government will rebuild itself again. We must become one voice, one desire, one will. Let us set aside individual, partisan, and ideological differences and, with awareness, courage, and compassion, pave the way for liberation. This is our call to all those who still hold the light of faith: to those who prefer freedom over any expediency, to those who seek Iran not in the past but in a bright future. Our proposal is clear: support for Mr. Reza Pahlavi.”

In the supportive statement, democracy advocates explained their reasons for supporting Prince Reza Pahlavi to lead the transition period following the Islamic Republic and to achieve a free Iran as follows: “With a realistic understanding of the country’s multi-layered crises, he has accepted the heavy responsibility of the transition period and, by presenting a hundred-day program based on guaranteeing human rights, separating religion from government, and preserving Iran’s territorial integrity, has offered a national, modern, and humane framework for peaceful transition from the existing order. Supporting this path means the beginning of rebuilding trust, creating the groundwork for forming a national interim government based on the only criterion of legitimacy—the free vote of the Iranian people.”

They described the future of a free Iran for all Iranians in this statement as follows: “1. Iran’s dignified return to the international community 2. Opening the doors of economy and investment 3. Conscious participation of people in determining their own destiny 4. Reconstruction of the educational, judicial, social, and environmental systems 5. Revival of culture, art, and wisdom among future generations 6. Achievement of complete equality of rights for all citizens regardless of religion, sect, ethnicity, gender, or sexual orientation.”

The authors of the statement wrote about the responsibility of people for a free future: “Democracy advocates, intellectuals, and civil activists bear a heavy but glorious responsibility: not to be mere spectators, but to be builders of tomorrow. This moment is a moment of transition from observation to action, a moment of uprising; a free Iran will be the home of all its loyal children from every language and color, religion and belief, lineage and experience.”

At the end of their statement, they called on people to join the “new wave of freedom and rebuilding of Iran.” A total of 134 signatories from various countries have signed this statement, their names are as follows:
